Rooted at Weber’s Session 2: Seed Starting
This is where the real magic begins. In this hands-on session, you’ll learn how to confidently start your own seeds indoors and set yourself up for a strong, productive garden season. We’ll break down what to start from seed vs. what to buy as transplants, how to create the ideal growing environment, and how to avoid the most common seed starting mistakes. You’ll get hands-on experience planting your own seeds, plus learn how to properly care for them, troubleshoot issues, and transition them outdoors when the time is right. You’ll leave with seedlings started and the knowledge to keep them thriving.
Rooted at Weber's Session 3: Salad Bowl Garden
This is where your garden starts feeding you. In this hands-on session, you’ll learn how to grow a continuous supply of fresh, nutrient-packed salad greens right from your own space. We’ll cover the best crops for a salad bowl garden, how to plant for ongoing harvests, and simple techniques to keep your greens coming back again and again. You’ll get to plant your own salad bowl to take home while learning how to maximize small spaces for big results.
This session is completely free, but spots are limited and still require a ticket. Be sure to secure yours through Weber’s website before they’re gone.
Hanging Beauties: Floral Hanging Basket Workshop
Join us for Hanging Beauties: A Floral Basket Workshop, a relaxed spring garden experience open to everyone—not just for Mother’s Day. Whether you’re coming to celebrate a mom, spend time with family, or simply enjoy a creative afternoon in the garden, this event is designed for all. Each guest will create their own lush floral hanging basket to take home, with all materials provided and guidance every step of the way.
The event takes place from 3 PM to 6 PM, and guests will enjoy a full spread of food served more like dinner than brunch, along with a welcoming outdoor atmosphere. Children are welcome to attend and plant alongside their families, making this a perfect outing for all ages. Come ready to create, connect, and leave with something beautiful to enjoy all season long.

No yard? No problem. In this hands-on session, you’ll learn how to grow a productive garden using grow bags—perfect for patios, small spaces, or anyone looking for a flexible and efficient setup. We’ll cover what crops thrive in grow bags, proper soil mixes, spacing, and how to maintain consistent watering and nutrients for healthy growth. You’ll plant your own grow bag to take home and leave with a clear understanding of how to grow more food in less space.

Farming in the city not only possible, it can be done in a small space with assistance from the NRCS. Host Brittney Hutcherson will share her efforts to grow abundant, nutritious food in a city yard utilizing a high tunnel, raised beds, vertical growing and more. Join us to learn from UW Extension, NRCS and Brittney and the Midwest Agriculture Network about the possibilities your yard, incubator space or community garden hold!

We greatly appreciate your support (especially during this time of federal funding upheaval). Your dollars go directly to help fund our farmer hosts and allow us to continue to offer these events for free or low-cost to our community.
